Being careful to protect her privacy, I will call her Jane and only share a few pertinent details. From initial contact, through yesterday’s visit and this morning’s follow up call, the hand of God moving in our midst was palpable.
Our HELPLINE volunteer advised center staff that Jane, while abortion-minded, still made an appointment to visit one of our centers, she was very apprehensive about her pregnancy and the perceived fallout from having a baby. We immediately gathered together for prayer; our hearts were heavy, but expectant – Jane was on her way.
After arriving, Jane shared with the peer counselor some of the concerns she had with the pregnancy. The circumstances that weighed heavily upon her heart and mind increased her anxiety and just overwhelmed her. The counselor affirmed her and lovingly encouraged her to consider taking time to pray and maybe just take a peek, to see what her baby looks like now. Jane agreed to an ultrasound and our licensed sonographer walked her through the process with care and understanding. While viewing the ultrasound, Jane said; “I could look at this all day.” Before leaving, Jane agreed to allow someone to follow-up with her to see how she’s doing and if there’s anything else we could do to help her going forward.
This morning our center coordinator called Jane and received the joyous news that Jane decided to love her baby and carry her baby to term. She also indicated she was no longer afraid and that she received the unexpected blessing of “gobs of support.”
“If we truly love people, we will desire for them more than it is in our power to give them; and that will lead us to prayer.” Richard Foster
We heard from some of you that you appreciated the opportunity to pray. We want you to know that we treasure your partnership in praying with us for moms and their unborn babies. By God’s grace, we together are instruments in His hand to His glory, on behalf of the unborn.
