When to get a sonogram
The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that all moms get a first trimester sonogram, somewhere around 6 to 9 weeks. In the first trimester of pregnancy, an early sonogram is a routine part of prenatal care, allowing parents a welcome first glance of their tiny baby bean.
What to expect during your first sonogram
Some important information will be gathered during the sonogram:
- An estimated due date more accurately by measuring the baby
- Confirm the presence of the baby’s heartbeat
- Identify the location of the baby in the uterus
- Determine the number of babies
You can expect lots of emotions, which is very normal. And before leaving, you’ll get your baby’s first picture.
